Social media, internet and technology - the dangers we face nowadays

Never before have we been so disconnected from our true self, and we can largely point the finger at social media, the internet and technology for that.

Yes, we might say these advances in technology are enormously useful - there is partial truth to that of course. But as with everything, we need balance, and we need to adopt a good attitude towards it. We need to set some limits otherwise there's a real danger we might become addicted and enslaved to this.

We need to keep in mind that social media is not reality. It's a virtual world, and the relationships we form on social media might largely be superficial or transient. There is also the danger of information overload and a sense of feeling overwhelmed. Yes, it's great to have information freely available at our fingertips, but are we using it in the right way? Are we sharing information wisely, or are we inadvertently spreading misinformation? What is the truth of the information we are sharing, and whose version of the truth is it? And as the availability of iPhones, games and WiFi increases exponentially, perhaps we need to be asking ourselves some deep questions. Perhaps some caution is needed.

So I invite you to be honest and ask yourself - is this making me feel anxious, disconnected from my heart and from real people, real relationships? I think we might all know the answer to that deep down.

You maybe ask why? The answers we all seek cannot be found outside of ourselves. The answers lie inside our hearts already, and the truth about our own true nature is within us. So take small break from all these things, and find your home. Find the stillness.
